BonBon Taste in my kitchen

When I started food-blogging last year I never thought I was going to meet also some wonderful, inspiring, hard-working ladies throughout this journey. I have shared with them so many recipes, kitchen failures, new ideas or just simple late-night chats and not for a moment considered them as my “Competition”.

This spring you’ll get the chance to know these ladies (and follow them on social media if you still don’t) through some guest postings at my blog.

So Ladies and Gentlemen’s, I am stepping aside for today and let my blog to Valbona, the mastermind mama behind BonBon Taste.

…………………………………………………….

Hi from Bonbon Taste

At the beginning of March, Nevila, the author of “Bake my Day Happy” blog asked me Bonbon Taste to write a guest post to her blog, sharing one of my recipes. This idea was new to me and I accepted with one condition, so she can write a guest post on my blog too.

Back to Bake my day Happy readers, it happened by the pure chance to choose a new recipe, which undoubtedly holds the Bonbon taste signature, because it was created entirely from me. It was one of those late night creations, when you just decide to bake a cake with the ingredients you have at home. And this is just the case.

I “barely” like cocoa cakes for two simple reasons; Firstly because I have to have a good quality cocoa to prepare it and secondly, there is nothing better than a real chocolate cake and to be honest, I just love the latter.

But, sometimes, these late night baking that come out of nowhere are the best, and I confirmed it the next day when this cake was still soft and fragrant. That’s why I took the pen and started to write down the recipe so I could remake it.

Since we’re at Nevila’s blog, let me tell you that in my family, we have a tradition; Everytime I bake a carrot cake, which is the specialty of the house, I have to bake also a chocolate cake that is served along with the carrot cake. Now, I can say that this tasty cocoa & orange cake has replaced with dignity the chocolate cake.

I buy the cocoa powder at Neranxi store. Up to now it resulted to be the best cocoa on the market, dark and “bitter” as it should be, so I would suggest you to use this cocoa, at least for my recipe (unless you already have a good-quality cocoa in your pantry). I do not have any great preference on the store, but I still get some products there.

[lt_recipe name=”Bonbon Taste Orange and cocoa cake” servings=”8 Servings” prep_time=”18M” cook_time=”25M” total_time=”33M” difficulty=”Easy” print=”yes” image=”https://bakemydayhappy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/kek-me-coko.jpg” ingredients=”• 80 gr butter;• 100 gr sugar;• 2 eggs;• 4 tbsp. cocoa ;• 1 tsp. instant coffee (Nescafé);• 2 tbsp. orange zest;• 100 ml milk;• 1 tbsp. apple vinegar;• 1 envelope  baking powder;• 250 gr flour;• 50 gr chocolate chips;• 5-6 strawberries for garnish;” ]Place the butter in a microwave-safe dish and melt ; Using an electric mixer or a handheld whisk combine the sugar and melted butter; Add eggs, one at a time, milk, cocoa, instant coffee (which enhances the cocoa flavour), apple cider vinegar (which will make the cake softer. Don’t worry, you won’t feel the taste after baking), flour and baking powder; Mix until combined; At last add the orange zest. I added candied orange peel, but you could use just orange zest. Trust me, there is a huge added flavour to this cake if you add orange peel or zest; Pour the cake batter to a previously greased baking pan and sprinkle the chocolate chips on top. Bake for about 20-25 minutes. Do not panic if the cake gets cracks on top, its just fine; After the cake is baked, garnish it with some strawberries and icing sugar; Check the photos below along with a snap of the carrot cake;[/lt_recipe]
