Today I’m proposing a delicious, super tasty hot dish to warm the soul. Even though it is officially spring, it’s still cold outside, I mean it has snowed for three days in Tirana, and it never snows here ☺. Since we still need a hot dish I’m suggesting to you to try out this easy one pot dish. I’ve posted a video on YouTube to show you how to stuff a whole cabbage. Sorry for the chipped dutch oven but I love it so much to throw it out, unfortunately it is very difficult to buy good quality cookware in Albania.
[lt_recipe name=”Stuffed whole cabbage with seasoned ground beef” servings=”5-6 servings” prep_time=”20M” cook_time=”20M” total_time=”40M” difficulty=”Medium” print=”yes” ingredients=”• 1 whole cabbage approx. 1.5kg;• 500gr of ground beef;• 3 tbsp. sweet paprika;• 3 tsp. onion powder;• 1 tsp. garlic powder;• 1 tsp. black pepper;• 3 tsp. salt;• 6 tbsp. pomegranate molasses;• 2 tsp. salt;• 3 bay leafs;• 1 cup water + ¼ cup ;• 3 tbsp. red wine vinegar;” ]Place the cabbage core down onto the dutch oven. Pour 1 cup of water, cover and let it simmer for about 15 minutes;Remove from heat and let it cool down;Preserve the boiling water for later use;In the meantime, mix well the ground beef with the spices (not the bay leaf) and the molasses; After the cabbage is cooled down, remove the core using a very sharp knife ( this process will make the stuffing a lot easier); Loosen the cabbage leaves and start stuffing each of them, making sure to tuck it in as much as possible; Place it in the dutch-oven , stuffed part facedown, and ¼ cup of water, the bay leafs, and the vinegar. Cover and simmer on medium heat for about 15 minutes or until a knife comes out easily if inserted in the center; Serve the cabbage sliced and still hot[/lt_recipe]
