16 years ago, a cousin of mine gave to me a Betty Crocker Cookbook (Cooking basics) were I was firstly introduced to Mexican Cooking. Most of the ingredients were unfamiliar to me, but with the passing of time and various researches that I made, I got pretty much an expert. Luckily for me, my family enjoys eating Mexican too and that’s why we often prepare homemade Mexican recipes
Nowadays, in most of the supermarkets in Tirana at the Ethnic food isle there are a lot of Mexican ingredients available such as Taco mixes, Enchilada sets, Tortillas, Salsas etc…, but few years ago, it was such an impossible mission to find anything and that’s why I had to make everything from scratch. One of those recipes is Taco spice mix
Serves 1 small jar
Prep time: 5 minutes
- 3 Tbsp. Chili powder
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp. onion powder
- 1 Tbsp. salt ( I use Himalayan pink salt)
- 1/2 Tbsp. dried oregano
- 1 tsp. cumin (ground)
- 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
- Put all the spices in a jar and shake well
- The spice mix can be stored for approximately for a year. Use as indicated in the following recipes in this blog.
